Activated Carbon plays a significant role in reducing contaminants, extraction of a range of chemicals, and in improving the operations of oil and gas refineries, profitably impacting their economy. The high absorption capacity of activated carbon is effective in eliminating contaminants like mercury, sulfur components, and odors. It is used as a catalyst for hydrocarbon sweetening. Activated Carbon is also vital for the removal of harmful mercury in natural gas. Activated Carbon removes our gases like carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide from natural gas and in gas scrubber systems, cleans gas scrubber liquids used in gas absorption systems.
MFAR Activated Carbon – Applications and Uses:
MFAR Activated Carbon finds application widely in the Petrochemical Industry in India and across the world. They are used for -
MFAR Activated Carbon ensures an economical and efficient solution for processes like:
Hydrocarbon Sweetening
Mercaptans have to be cleaned of highly corrosive Sulphur before further downstream processing of petroleum oils. MFAR Activated Carbon products are suitable for the removal of these corrosive compounds from the light and heavier refinery products.
Boiler Condensate
Water used as condensate boiler feed requires very high purification standards. As part of the reuse of the condensate stream, it has to be purified before being recirculated back to the boilers.
The major contaminants that need to be removed are -
The carbon that has to be used to attain the purification should be of low silica as the silica could damage the ion exchange resins, boiler tubes, and turbine blades.
MFAR Activated Carbon produced under controlled conditions to take care of the silica, thereby safeguarding the equipment from damage. This leads to significant improvement in machinery lifetime, reduction in maintenance cost, and superior performance.
Pressure Swing Adsorption
MFAR Activated carbon can be utilized in Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) technology. Here the separation of gases is achieved by adsorption and desorption at different pressures. The catalyst here is specially developed and utilized for hydrocarbon sweetening.
MFAR Carbon has activated carbon products that can separate individual gasses from a mixture of gasses under pressure with the gasses having an affinity towards the carbon being adsorbed onto the carbon pores and desorbing these gasses at different pressures. MFAR Carbon produces carbon with the right particle size distribution to take care of the pressure drop.
